Top 5 Kitchen Mixers Cuisinart Stand Mixer SM-5.5 This is a great mixer. It comes with all the basic attachments and can handle pretty much anything you can throw at it. With a heavy duty motor it will not die on you. It is a great all around mixer if you only have enough room for one machine. I find the cleaning a bit harder than with the KitchenAid so I have sold it and have a KitchenAid for that I use for cake batter and other lighter mixing(look at other review here) and an Electrolux for bread(check out other review). www.amazon.com Cuisinart SM-70 With a 1000 w motor, this mixer is truly heavy duty. This is the miniature version of my old Hobart 80 qt. mixer that I had in my bakery. It can do anything good. You will see the KitchenAid advertised the most, mostly because they are in fashion, with a myriad of colors. While I like them, I feel they are the all around mixer, not great at everything but can do most anything. Plus they look cool on your counter. If you are planning to get a KitchenAid I would go for the Pro model as the others tend to burn out with serious use.
